The Process

  • Every commission starts with the practical question: what does this piece need to do? Where will it live? What will it hold, display, or support? The clearer you are about function and space, the better the outcome. A rough sketch, a torn magazine page, a Pinterest board – bring anything.

  • This is the more interesting question. What feeling do you want the piece to carry? Are there materials, periods, or objects you're drawn to? This is where we find the creative brief together, and where the making begins to take shape.

  • I'll develop sketches and technical drawings based on our conversations. A design deposit secures your place and covers this stage. From here we refine until it's right.

  • With drawings approved I'll confirm your place in the workshop and a clear completion date.

On timing Bespoke commissions take several weeks from design approval to completion, depending on complexity. I'll give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you posted as the piece takes shape.

On price Every commission is priced individually based on the piece, the timber, and the complexity of the making. I'm happy to give you a clear indication early in our conversation – no surprises.
